Swap Rosa for Yang?

Yes, at roughly 4 stars and widget 2. Do not wait for a finished Yang. Eleven player reports put the Bear uplift between 23% and 83%.

Best Bear Hunt joiner?

Chenko or Yeonwoo, leftmost slot. Flat +25% Squad Lethality that always fires and stacks with the other joiners. Chance skills do not stack.

No good joiner hero?

Send troops with no hero. Only the top 4 joiner skills count, so a weak hero takes a slot from a stronger one. Your troops deal full damage either way.

Why the slot matters

Why mode changes the answer

The same hero can be great and useless.

Leading a rally

All three heroes' skills fire, and they fire often. Chance-based skills win here. Yang's 40% chance of 100% damage is worth more than a flat buff.

Joining a rally

Only slot 1's first skill is used, once. Flat skills win here. The same Yang is a mediocre joiner. Stars and widgets change almost nothing.

Arena

Turn-based, so rally rankings do not transfer at all. Never buy an Arena hero off a Bear Hunt tier list.
