Price the gear path before choosing the hero.

Hero stars do not capture the cost of gear and exclusive widgets. This page separates verified requirements from unverified return-on-investment advice.

Verified mechanics

Hero gear ascension is gated by server age.
Ascension requires Enhancement level 100 and Mastery level 10.
Exclusive gear levels 1 through 10 require 275 widgets in total.

Not yet supported: Public evidence does not establish one widget stop level for every spending tier and mode.

Use a role-first budget

Start with the march and mode you want to improve. Then compare the widget cost, the hero's usable star level, and whether the same gear must support another troop type.
